The William Carlos Williams Society is sponsoring two sessions at the 2025 MLA convention in New Orleans (9–12 January).

William Carlos Williams and the Question of “America”: 100 Years of In the American Grain

In marking the 100th anniversary of the publication of In the American Grain, we seek papers that offer new readings of this work or consider Williams’s relationship to “Americanness” as a social, literary, or historical concept. Papers may also consider Williams and questions of national borders; national identity; the telling of American history; the American South; America’s literary tradition; or the troubled and violent history that permeates these concepts. Please submit proposals to Mark C.
